Kibera-0213 Mary Auma Onyosi

Mary resides with her three biological children and an additional thirteen children from her late sister's family. The collective household, comprising Mary's children Dorothy (22, studying engineering in college), Byrol (20, university student), and Lilian (18, in the final year of high school), along with her late sister's children. They all live in a single room in Kibera that costs $20/month.

The late sister's children under Mary's care include Dennis (24), Rivald (19), Felix (17), Samson (20), Candy (15), Livia (14), Phoebe (14), Allan (13), Ann (11), and Jayden (6, Dorothy’s son).

Previously employed, Mary developed epilepsy resulting in her job loss due. Since then, she has been generating income by preparing traditional medicine for young children, yielding about $32/month, not nearly enough to care for such a large household, let along herself. Mary is hopeful and would like to start a business selling second-hand clothing and shoes. She is engaged in her local church community. For now, your help will ensure this family doesn’t go hungry by meeting their most basic needs.
