Kibera-0211 Agnes Khakayi

Agnes Khakayi, a 61-year-old woman, is married to Jackson Kariuki, and they reside with their grandson, Ewin, age 13. They live in a single room in Kibera. Both Agnes and Jackson face significant health challenges. Agnes has been grappling with a persistent wound since 1984, leading to frequent hospital visits that adversely impact her business and income. Additionally, she is HIV positive and deals with high blood pressure.

Jackson is also HIV positive and has high blood pressure. He suffered a stroke a few years ago but has made substantial progress in his recovery and is now capable of performing various manual tasks.

Despite their health setbacks, the couple manages to sustain a food-selling business, which serves as their primary source of income. However, they don’t make enough to meet their daily needs and have frequent medical bills and school fees past due. Your support will ensure this family has enough to eat and will allow them the opportunity to expand their business in the future and work to become self-sustaining.
