Abebe Getachew
Ethiopia Country Director
Abebe has been Family Hope International’s Ethiopia Program Director since its beginning in 2011. Abebe spent many years working for the Ethiopian
Government as a Hydrogeologist before joining FHI. Abebe is responsible for the execution of FHI’s vision in Ethiopia. He oversees all operations, project areas, and staff. Abebe reports directly to the FHI Board of Directors in the U.S. Abebe is married to his beautiful wife Abonesh, and they have six amazing children and have adopted. Abebe is a man of deep faith and integrity, possessing a genuine humility and heart for the widow, orphan, and Ethiopia's lost.
Abonesh Kidane
Ethiopia Finance Director
Abonesh, wife of Abebe, has served alongside her husband since the beginning of FHI. She previously served as the chief accountant of the largest Christian church in Ethiopia. She has vast experience and expertise in accounting and business development. Abonesh oversees all FHI Ethiopia finances, reporting, and accounting and leads our Micro-Business Program. Abonesh is a very gifted and graceful woman reflecting all of the beauty of Ethiopia. She is an amazing mother to her six children.
Kepha Charles
Kenya Country Director
Kepha was born and raised in Kibera by his single mother. Slum life was hard on him but he turned to music and then found Jesus at youth camp. In 2005, he merged his love of Jesus with his love of reggae and founded the TuneDem Band. Kepha's band eventually turned into the TuneDem Foundation, an NGO serving and sharing the gospel in the slums of Kibera. Kepha and his wife Joy have 2 children. Kepha's NGO and humanitarian background make him a great Kenya Country Director with FHI.
Joy Gitau
Kenya Finance Director
Joy is a seasoned and dedicated financial, accounting and investment manager with over 10 years' experience. She has been instrumental in
ensuring FHI's growth and stability in Kenya. Joy is also passionate about educating and helping people navigate and achieve their financial goals. She holds a Bachelor's in Commerce, Finance Option, and a Diploma in Business Information Technology. Joy enjoys spending time with her husband and two beautiful children, swimming, reading and occasional road trips.
Kossi and Whitney Akpi
Malawi Country Co-Directors
Kossi and Whitney moved to Malawi in 2018 as missionaries. They now have three children, all of whom were born in Malawi. Kossi and Whitney have helped to pioneer several projects and ministries here. Their focus has been to walk alongside Malawian pastors and leaders, supporting and encouraging them as they pursue the ministries God has called them to. We look forward to growing in Malawi with Kossi and Whitney at the helm of FHI Malawi.
